Who pays the Ferryman ?
Why in the 1980’s did a Quick Reactionary Force of
armed Police descend on a quite wooded area near a village
in Kent? Who were Richard James and Paul Jones and what
had they done? Were they terrorists or had they committed
some other act of violence to warrant the deployment of
a number Police – some of which were heavily armed?
The story ‘Who pays the
Ferryman?’ takes the reader through a labyrinth of questions
and answers as they follow the factional account of Richard
James and his friend Paul Jones from their arrest back to
earlier times when they worked in Eire. How they were made
a monetary offer they could not refuse to wok for a wealthy
landowner in the Republic only to become embroiled in the
twilight zone of subterfuge and espionage. Who really is Brendan
O’Shea the wealthy landowner in Eire? What does he really
stand for?
During his time in the Republic
of Ireland Richard becomes embroiled in two sectarian murders!
On top of this, the IRA attempt to headhunt him, are they
successful and is this the reason why he is arrested? Richard
is introduced to Breandan’s cousins, the Devlin brothers,
who take him for a night out to an IRA stronghold deep in
the woods. Whilst visiting he is shot at and taken on a nightmare
car journey through the narrow twisting country byways, all
for what reason?
Is Sean – a member of
the UDR – really Richard’s friend, or has he a
hidden agenda? Who are the Irish men in the blue Volvo who
kidnap Richard at gun point? Who do they really work for?
Are they IRA or Special Forces and has Richard fallen into
a trap?
