Who pays the Ferryman ?

Why in the 1980’s did a Quick Reactionary Force of armed Police descend on a quite wooded area near a village in Kent? Who were Richard James and Paul Jones and what had they done? Were they terrorists or had they committed some other act of violence to warrant the deployment of a number Police – some of which were heavily armed?

The story ‘Who pays the Ferryman?’ takes the reader through a labyrinth of questions and answers as they follow the factional account of Richard James and his friend Paul Jones from their arrest back to earlier times when they worked in Eire. How they were made a monetary offer they could not refuse to wok for a wealthy landowner in the Republic only to become embroiled in the twilight zone of subterfuge and espionage. Who really is Brendan O’Shea the wealthy landowner in Eire? What does he really stand for?

During his time in the Republic of Ireland Richard becomes embroiled in two sectarian murders! On top of this, the IRA attempt to headhunt him, are they successful and is this the reason why he is arrested? Richard is introduced to Breandan’s cousins, the Devlin brothers, who take him for a night out to an IRA stronghold deep in the woods. Whilst visiting he is shot at and taken on a nightmare car journey through the narrow twisting country byways, all for what reason?

Is Sean – a member of the UDR – really Richard’s friend, or has he a hidden agenda? Who are the Irish men in the blue Volvo who kidnap Richard at gun point? Who do they really work for? Are they IRA or Special Forces and has Richard fallen into a trap?

The book presents the reader with more questions than answers, leaving them guessing right to the end. It is one of a trilogy that takes the reader into the twilight zone of Military Intelligence, undercover agents, Special Forces and the IRA!
